I am also using 2 software packages/Apps who partly work via the Internet to make QSO with other amateur radio stations.

The most common known is Echo Link.

A new one on the market is a App called Peanut and developed by David PA7LIM.

ECHO LINK

EchoLink® software allows licensed Amateur Radio stations to communicate with one another over the Internet, using streaming-audio technology.  The program allows worldwide connections to be made between stations, or from computer to station, greatly enhancing Amateur Radio's communications capabilities.  There are more than 200,000 validated users worldwide — in 151 of the world's 193 nations — with about 6,000 online at any given time.

PEANUT

I am using a new project called Peanut. On the Peanut you can talk with HAM amateurs around the world via an Android device or network radio. Some of the ROOMS are connected to DSTAR reflectors ( REF001C, REF030C, XRF076B, XRF076F, XRF71L, XRF070C etc.. ). You only need an Android device to use DSTAR
